Lady Spartans win on Senior night!!!

The Waynesville Lady Spartans basketball team split the week of games vs Franklin and Preble Shawnee. The team lost to Franklin on Monday by a score of 67-58. The team was led in scoring by Ali Caplinger with 20 and Abby Search with 12 points and 11 rebounds. On Wednesday it was Senior night for 4 players playing in their last home game, Alex Brooks, Logan Girsmer, Morgan Price, and Marliana Schenking. The team came out and fell behind in the opening minutes by a score of 15-3, but then Ali Caplinger took over the game and scored 25 points the first half to push the Spartans to a halftime lead of 35-24. In the second half Abby Search scored 12 of her 16 points and the team held on to defeat Shawnee by a score of 56-46. This win was the 12th of the season for the team and put them in a tie for second place in the SWBL with Preble Shawnee.
The Lady Spartans will be in action in the first round of the tournament on Saturday February 16th at 12 noon at Wilmington vs Felicity Franklin.

The Reserve team defeated Franklin on Monday and Preble Shawnee on Wednesday to end the season with 10 wins. On Monday the Paige Naegele led a balanced attack with 9 points and Mary VanAtta chipped in with 7 in the 38-36 win over Franklin. On Wednesday the team defeated Shawnee by a score of 40 to 26 with Julie Slybly leading the scoring with 12 points, Madison Gibson with 7 and Molly Keeton with 6.
March Madness coming!!!!
The Lady Spartans basketball team will be sponsoring a clinic on Saturday March 16th from 6:00 to 12 midnight. The clinic will be open to any girls basketball players grades 3 – 8. The clinic will featured Kevin Duncan teaching fundamental drills and each girl will have their shot and ball handling skills videotaped that evening.
